Beachwheels Program
"Beachwheels" is a program started in 1992 by the Long Beach Township Beach Patrol. The program provides wheelchairs to people who are physically challenged and living or visiting the Township of Long Beach.
The Beachwheels (or Surf Chairs) are made from lightweight PVC tubing and oversize wheels so that they can handle difficult terrain such as the beach.
People staying in certain municipalities on Long Beach Island can arrange for the free loan of a chair. Advance reservations are necessary due to a limited number of chairs available. For more information, call the following numbers:
