Marine Mammal Stranding Center

Logo of the Marine Mammal Stranding Center This unique center is a non-profit organization founded in 1978. Based out of a small facility in Brigantine, the Center has responded to over 1000 calls to assist stranded whales, dolphins, seals and sea turtles that have washed ashore on the beaches of New Jersey.

Whether it's a 5 lb. Kemps Ridley Sea Turtle, or a 25 ton Humpback Whale, the Center responds to the call for assistance. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is the only organization in the state authorized to rescue and rehabilitate stranded marine mammals and sea turtles.

MMSC welcoming center The Center maintains a small museum and gift shop which helps defray the costs of operations. The museum is open 11 AM to 5 PM daily from Memorial Day through Labor day, and at other times of the year on weekends only from 12 noon to 4 PM.

Visitors may tour the facility and are guided by helpful and knowledgeable volunteers. Click here to visit the Center's Website
